Places to visit over the weekend from Bangalore-Mysore and Srirangapatnam.
The city of palaces, temples, and gardens-Mysore is located at a distance of 135-km from Bangalore and is a 2-hour drive on the four lane Bangalore-Mysore highway.
Halt at Srirangapatnam, the town made famous by legendary warrior Tipu Sultan, on the Bangalore-Mysore highway (14-km from Mysore) to see Tipu Sultan's Dariya Daulat Bagh, and Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, from which the ancient town gets its name Srirangapatna-abode of Lord of the World.
Popular tourist attractions in Mysore are the Mysore Palace, Sri Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hills 10-km from Mysore, Nandi Bull Temple on Chamundi Hills, St. Philomena's Church, and Vrindavan Gardens.
It takes about two and a half hours to reach Mysore from Bangalore, and a one-day trip is sufficient to see the tourist attractions in Mysore and Srirangapatnam.
If you want to spend the afternoon soaking in the oriental delights of the Mysore Palace, with a Guide Book in hand and a Guide for company, then spare more than a couple of hours or even half a day; for those that are inclined towards paintings, arts, architecture, and design; for visiting Mysore Palace and halt for the night in Mysore.
Photos of Mysore visit. Please be patient for the images to load. I hope they are worth the wait.
